Emma brings a range of skills from a varied professional career to the HR Solutions’ team.

As an HR Consultant, Emma builds a strong rapport with her clients so that she can deliver support and advice based on their business and HR needs.

Having studied English Literature at university, Emma was unsure of the direction that her career might take until she applied for an HR Admin role and hasn’t looked back since.

Emma progressed quickly in her career, gaining a wealth of experience in several roles whilst completing her qualifications, before joining HR Solutions. Through working in further education, hospitality and automotive sectors, Emma has established herself as an HR generalist, giving her the tools to support clients from a wide range of industries.

Away from work, Emma spends her spare time walking her dog, running, or combining the two, and running with the dog!

Emma’s Q&A

What’s your greatest Personal Achievement?

Professionally, achieving my Postgraduate in HRM whilst working full-time; that was a challenging couple of years but definitely worth it!

Personally, getting a Personal Best at Edinburgh Half Marathon. 6 weeks beforehand, I’d fallen over (whilst running with the dog) and couldn’t put any weight on my leg, so I nearly didn’t even make it to the start line! Oh, and I’ve definitely already got another half marathon booked in to try and beat that time…

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

Great things never came from comfort zones.

What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend – and why?

Parkrun, easily! Apart from starting a 9am every Saturday (so I rarely get a Saturday lie-in!), I love the sense of community that parkrun gives; it doesn’t matter how fast or slow or in-between you are.

It’s such a supportive, friendly and non-judgemental environment, it’s nice to just be able to get out there with other people and enjoy it!

What do you wish other people knew about HR Solutions?

How welcoming and friendly everyone is and passionate about what they do. There are always things in HR that are new or changing and everyone has different strengths, which makes us a team with a wealth of knowledge, and knowledge that we’re more than happy to share!
