Absence Management Seminar – Mental Health Focus – BIRMINGHAM

With the number of reported mental health problems increasing year on year it’s vital for businesses to consider employee mental health in the same bracket as employee physical health.

Prevention is always better than cure. We recommend promoting wellbeing in the workplace and tackling the causes of stress and poor mental health before they lead to absence.

Balancing both compliance with employment law, and effective absence management at work can be a minefield for managers. It can be tough, require us to have difficult conversations that we would rather avoid and quite often we just don’t feel that we have the time.

The range of hurdles which absence can cause is broad, to say the least; from awareness of AWOL employee rights, and tackling persistent short-term absence, to delicate long-term sickness cases. Unfortunately, there is not a one size fits all approach. In fact, the most appropriate approach to handle each of them can vary significantly.

We cut through the legal jargon and help you to understand what the red tape means in real terms. More importantly, we then provide practical absence management advice, because it is here that tribunal cases are lost and won.

In this interactive workshop, we shall equip you with tools that you may use to manage your employees, talk to you about the issues you have, provide you with real and actionable HR tips and give advice on absence management strategy. You will leave feeling that you can approach these situations with confidence, significantly reduce risk, save time and support your business.

 What we will cover:

–  Employee rights during absence (including the Equality Act 2010)
–  Strategies to minimise absenteeism
–  How to manage an AWOL employee
–  Pay and other benefits
–  Risks of assuming resignation
–  Getting the basics of long-term sick right
